Location:
The San Juan County Fairground is located on Argyle Ave., 5 blocks from central Friday Harbor, on San Juan Island, WA. A tile mural by local artist Chinmayo and the county's 4-H kids welcomes visitors to the Main gate on Argyle Ave.
Walk-on ferry passengers:
During the Fair, a shuttle van meets each Washington State Ferry at the Friday Harbor ferry landing to transport "walk-on passengers" to the Main gate. The shuttle returns to the ferry landing from the Main gate for connection to departing ferries. This service is free to fairgoers and is provided by the SJC Fair.
Parking at the Fair:
If you must bring a car to the fair, parking will be available for a fee in the lot across from the fair on Argyle Ave. The fee supports activities at the Friday Harbor High School.
Free parking is available at the Friday Harbor Elementary school parking lot adjacent to the fairgrounds. Additional parking is available at Friday Harbor High School each day and at the theatre/court house parking lot on Saturday.
The Washington State Ferry to the San Juan Islands leaves from the Anacortes Ferry Terminal. To get to Anacortes, take Interstate 5 to Exit 230 (Sedro-Wooley/Burlington Exit) and go west on Highway 20 to Anacortes. In Anacortes follow the signs for the San Juan Islands ferry.

In the summertime the ferries can be fairly busy. Plan on arriving 2 - 3 hours in advance if you are driving your car to the island. An alternative that saves time and money is to park your car and walk on the ferry. Foot passengers should allow about an hour to park, buy a ticket and board. The Fair transport shuttle will meet each ferry and will be available at the fairgrounds to take fair-goers to departing ferries each day of the fair.
